Humanities on the Double First-Class list: philosophy, languages and literature, history

The second-round Double First-Class annex prints disciplines against some of the universities it names. This page lists, for seven humanities disciplines chosen by this site, the institutions the annex prints under each one, in the order the annex prints them. It is a reference list, not a ranking, and for the full set of pages by subject area see this directory's section page.

The grouping of these seven disciplines is this site's choice, not the Ministry's. The official lists are in Chinese. The English names of universities and disciplines are this directory's renderings, not official translations, and this site's English is also its own translation of the Chinese text. The institutions named here come from the annex to the notice numbered 教研函〔2022〕1号, dated 9 February 2022. Confirm against the current official list.

Peking University and Tsinghua University

Paragraph 2 of the notice says that Peking University (北京大学) and Tsinghua University (清华大学) determine their own construction disciplines and publish them themselves. The annex prints no disciplines for either university. Counting the entries of the annex, two entries have no disciplines printed. Their absence from the rows below says nothing about what they teach.

Which list is this, and what date does it carry?

The list is annex 1 to the notice of the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Finance and the National Development and Reform Commission, numbered 教研函〔2022〕1号 and dated 9 February 2022. Its title is the second-round list of Double First-Class construction universities and disciplines, printed in order of school code.

Why does the annex print no disciplines for Peking University and Tsinghua University?

Paragraph 2 of the notice says that these two universities determine their own construction disciplines and publish them themselves. The annex therefore prints no discipline rows for them. This is the text of the notice, and it does not say which disciplines either university has chosen.

Does appearing on this list show whether a university admits international students?

The annex names institutions and disciplines only, and it prints no admission information. For whether a programme is open to international students, check the university's own admission prospectus.
