Double First-Class universities in Guangzhou and Guangdong Province

Sources checked · Unofficial summary

Counting the entries of annex 1 to the second-round 'Double First-Class' construction list, eight institutions are printed under the Guangdong header of the national list. Counting the place column of the national list, seven of the eight are in Guangzhou (广州市), and one, Southern University of Science and Technology, is in Shenzhen (深圳市). This page gives each entry with its place, administering body and printed disciplines, and it links each one to its directory page. For all universities by province, see this directory's section page.

This directory is not a government or university website, and it accepts no applications. The English in this article is this site's translation of the Chinese texts. Confirm names and places against the current official list before you rely on them.

The list and its date

The list is annex 1 to the notice of the Ministry of Education (教育部), the Ministry of Finance (财政部) and the National Development and Reform Commission (国家发展改革委), document 教研函〔2022〕1号, dated 9 February 2022. The notice says the institutions were identified by an expert committee, and that the three ministries studied the list and reported it to the State Council for approval. Annex 2 of the notice, which covers first-round disciplines given a public warning, is outside this article.

Counting the entries of the annex, the list has 147 institutions. The annex is in order of school code, and it prints no ranking and no score.

Guangdong entries in the national list

The national list of higher education institutions, as of 17 June 2026, prints a header line for each province. The header for Guangdong reads 广东省（167所）, which is Guangdong Province with 167 institutions. Counting the rows under that header, 77 are at undergraduate level (本科). The remark column (备注) of the national list is blank for each of the eight rows listed below.

Each entry is placed in the national list by its place column (所在地). The header a school is printed under and its place are shown separately in this article.

Entries in annex order

The table follows the order of the annex, which is the order of school codes. The Chinese names are as printed in the annex. English names of universities and disciplines are this directory's renderings, not official translations; the official lists are in Chinese. The disciplines are as printed in the annex, in this directory's English, and they are not counted here.
