Four universities under the Hunan Province heading of the national list are printed in the second-round Double First-Class annex of 9 February 2022: Central South University, Hunan University, Hunan Normal University and Xiangtan University. For other provinces, see this directory's section page.

This article is a reference guide. The Chinese names and disciplines below are as printed in the official lists, which are in Chinese. The English names of institutions and disciplines are this directory's renderings, not official translations. The English in this article is this site's translation of the Chinese texts.

What each list says

The first paragraph of the notice of 9 February 2022 says the list of second-round universities and disciplines was determined by an expert committee. It says the Ministry of Education and two other ministries studied the list and reported it to the State Council for approval. This article covers annex 1 of the notice and does not cover annex 2.

The annex of 9 February 2022 is titled 第二轮“双一流”建设高校及建设学科名单（按学校代码排序）, which means its entries are in school code order. The annex prints no province for each entry, so place is taken from the national list.

The national list as of 17 June 2026 has seven columns in attachment 1: 序号, 学校名称, 学校标识码, 主管部门, 所在地, 办学层次 and 备注. For each of the four rows, the remark column (备注) is empty. The administering body column (主管部门) gives Hunan Province for Xiangtan University and Hunan Normal University, and the Ministry of Education for Hunan University and Central South University.
